Recovery Together: Restoring Trust and Collaborating with Healthcare Institutions
Samen Herstel (Recovery Together) is a project run by Maya Nova Zorg that focuses on restoring trust between families and healthcare institutions. We work closely with municipalities, neighborhood teams, and other healthcare partners to reconnect families with the care they need.

Restoring trust between families and the government
When the government has let you down, it can be incredibly difficult to trust the help they offer again. Restoring trust is a complex task, especially when the “bad cop” (the government) is now trying to be the “good cop.” We understand this dynamic better than anyone and see ourselves as the perfect party to bridge the gap. Thanks to our proximity, both regionally and in our personal contact, we can support families in this difficult situation. We speak the same language as the families and ensure that communication with the government is humane and effective.
Guidance on cooperation with authorities
Families who are victims of systemic failures often encounter barriers in their interactions with the government and other care institutions. We help families draw up an action plan and offer practical guidance in restoring communication between the family and the authorities. We ensure that cooperation runs smoothly, so that the parties involved can do their work without the families feeling abandoned again.
Trauma-informed Care
Our approach is trauma-informed and focused on rebuilding trust at a pace that the family can handle. We offer closeness and empathetic understanding, so that families feel safe to be open to the help they need.
Support for Municipal Consultants
We understand that municipal consultants and government agencies do not always speak the same language as the victims. That is why we offer specific training courses on restorative practices, so that municipal consultants can communicate more effectively with families and offer them the right support. As bridge builders, we ensure that cooperation between the government and families is restored in a respectful and effective manner.
